Summer 2016 Updates!

8/9/2016

So much time has passed since I last posted - guilt (and procrastination) have finally kicked in to a motivating degree!

Also, so much has happened since late March...a brief bulleted recap list below. I will attempt to go into more detail about each item in the next month.
  • Bayesian Statistics and Modeling Workshop at the Woods Hole Research Center with Tom Hobbs of CSU in late April.
  • Diving back into the Kok Effect and respiration in the light full force with Owen Atkin to analyze a global dataset of >1000 replicate light curves to prepare for the New Phytologist meeting in Angers, France and get organized for a new manuscript
  • Developed new measurement set up for detecting simultaneous leaf-level gas exchange, fluorescence at ~760 and ~680 nm in the light in oak and maple seedlings with Or Shapira and Zhunqiao Liu. The goal being to build functional, quantitative relationships that can inform canopy SIF measurements.
  • Attended the New Phytologist Workshop on the Kok Effect in Angers, France in early July led by Guillaume Tcherkez, Paul Gauthier, and Mark Adams.
  • After a quick 18 hour turnaround from France, headed to Boulder, CO to attend the excellent two-week FluxCourse organized by Dave Moore and Kim Novick. I was awarded the Ray Leuning Scholarship which covered the cost of my attendance and may it possible to attend.
  • Arrived back in Providence/Woods Hole in late July in time to finish up a NSF full proposal for the IOS program with Peter Reich and Rebecca Montgomery and apply to my first job of the 2016-2017 season.
So now that it is August, I'm getting back into the swing of a regular work schedule and look forward to the upcoming fall. Unfortunately, I had to cancel my trip to ESA 2016 last minute, but will work on getting my data on respiration in the light at Harvard Forest out in manuscript form this fall.

More detailed updates soon!
